The Institute for Hospital Pharmacy with University Pharmacy (IKPA) has a wide range of tasks and services.
All wards and departments of the 26 clinics and 19 institutes of the University Medical Center Magdeburg are supplied with medicines, medical devices, infusions, in-house preparations, clinical trial drugs, disinfectants, modern wound dressings, and laboratory diagnostics.
The strategic purchasing department of the Institute for Hospital Pharmacy with University Pharmacy (IKPA) ensures that medicines and medical devices are not only of impeccable quality and compliant with all technical and legal requirements, but also available in a rational manner.
In addition to cost-effective production of various drugs, in-house drug manufacturing also enables patient-oriented drug therapy, e.g., through individualized cytostatic preparations, mixed infusions for total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and the development and preparation of child-friendly dosage forms and dosages.
The high quality of our in-house production can be guaranteed through pharmaceutical analysis of the raw materials and end products used, constant in-process controls, and plausibility checks of patient-specific requirements.
The Institute for Hospital Pharmacy with University Pharmacy (IKPA) is available to the medical and nursing staff of the University Hospital around the clock as a competent contact for a wide range of questions related to medicines, and contributes to optimal patient care by providing independent information.
Pharmacoeconomic consulting, consumption control, and strategic purchasing enable the optimal use of available resources.
The Institute for Hospital Pharmacy with University Pharmacy (IKPA) has been a member of the PBMG since January 1, 2020.
The range of services is complemented by in-house training on pharmaceutical issues, outpatient prescription billing, management of the Drug Commission and Laboratory Commission, participation in clinical studies, and participation in numerous committees and working groups.
The Institute for Hospital Pharmacy with University Pharmacy (IKPA) is a training center for clinical pharmacy and medication management.
